Compassion

Supporting others who believe in Christ and who are sharing the Good News is important at Gateway Church. Whether missionaries are near or far, it is our desire to pray for them and their continued success, and safety.

Each month, we focus on two specific Missions - one local, one international.

Check here regularly to learn more about the amazing people God has called to help others.

LOCAL: Pregnancy Care Center

"Nancy" first came to the PCC after hurricane Sandy, needing clothing for her 2 small children. While at the center, she not only received the clothes but also received Jesus Christ as her Savior. A few months later, she was back at the center in distress as she learned she was pregnant in spite of using contraception. She learned that her only kidney was seriously infected, full of stones. The doctors urged her to get an abortion due to the strong medication she needed to take.

Constant prayer helped Nancy get through the next few months, but now surgery was needed. The surgery was successful. It was one ordeal after another, but she wasn't alone. The Center was there to assist by giving her the love and prayer needed.

Nancy gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl who turned a year old last month. Nancy's husband and brother saw all that God did for Nancy and also turned to Christ, following HIM.

On Sept. 23, the PCC is holding their annual 5K walk/run to raise funds to serve our community by providing free and confidential services.

Where: Gateway National Recreation Area at the end of Father Capodanno Blvd near Ball Field 8

Time: Registration is at 8am; Event begins at 9:00am. You can call 718-667-4357 or sign up at pccofny.org.

Gateway Church helped "birth" the center in 1985, realizing the need to reach women with the compassion of Christ, offering alternative options to abortion. Let's continue to pray and support this growing ministry in Staten Island. Please visit cpcny.org for more info.

internationalItaly for christ

On August 24, 2016, tragedy hit central Italy as a 6.2 M earthquake shook towns and villages, leaving death and devastation. Close to 300 people are believed to be dead. Small towns were literally obliterated. Pain and discouragement are evident as the loss of life and hopelessness increases.

In the midst of the crisis, our missionary Guy Sotile (Italy For Christ – IFC) is busy bringing help and hope to these suffering people, just as IFC did for the people who suffered from the devastating earthquake in 2009. Guy has been in contact with Pastor Tim explaining the plan of action IFC has put in place to bring the needed supplies as well as meet the spiritual needs of those who are now living in tent villages built around the towns hit by the earthquake.

This is our "God-given" opportunity to help IFC bring the love of Christ to those who are suffering from this tragic event in Italy. Gateway Church stepped up to help immediately, providing $5,000 from our Gateway Relief Fund to help purchase needed supplies. IFC and Gateway have been partners for many years, as we pray and financially support their efforts to saturate Italy with the gospel of Jesus Christ by showing His compassion in times like these. Your sacrificial giving to World Outreach/Missions make this possible! Thank you for doing your part and remember to pray for this outreach.

Let's seize the opportunities when they come our way. Together we can help others experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ during troubled times here and around the world. The Great Commission doesn’t end here, but Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel (Good News) to everyone.” (Mark 16:15)
